When you lower the backrest the base of the seat rises increasing the angle of the backrest up to 125° and from about 4 months of age when you raise the backrest the base of the seat returns to its original position keeping an angle of 110° this also adjusts the five point safety harness to the correct position without having to undo and rethread the harness as your child grows.
